PMS Indonesia holds National Congress of St. Peter the Apostle

The Karya Kaepausan Indonesia or the Pontifical Mission Societies in Indonesia is celebrating its 40 years of foundation this year. In line with the celebration, Rev. Fr. Romanus Harjito, O. Carm, PMS National Director of Indonesia, organized a National Congress of the Pontifical Society of St. Peter the Apostle (POSPA) in Crosier Pratista Priory and Retreat Center in Bandung, Indonesia from August 10 to 14, 2011. The event was participated in by more than 80 delegates mostly priests and religious who are connected in campaigning for vocations for their respective congregations and seminaries. Highlight of the congress was the talk of Msgr. Jan Dumon, Secretary General of the Pontifical Society of St. Peter the Apostle. His talk opened the minds of the participants on the Spirituality of Jeanne Bigard, foundress of the Society, and the relevance of the POSPA in the modern time. Upon the invitation of Fr. Harjito, Fr. Socrates C. Mesiona, MSP, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Philippines, together with Anthony Dameg, attended the said conference to express solidarity with the local Church of Indonesia and learn as well of how they organize the Congress of St. Peter the Apostle.
